 Statistics is a difficult and elusive subject, not only because it is so complex and has so many nuances, but also because the information is often not well presented or the definitions and functional distinctions are not clearly made.

This book by Dawson and Trapp is wonderful, and the clearest review of basic bio-medical statistics that i know. Get it and read it.
